PREFLIGHT INSPECTION

1. WALK AROUND

Remove all frost, ice, or snow and debris from all flight and control surfaces and linkages, and from openings, cavities and cowlings.

2 NOSE

1. Engine Oil Level. .CHECK up to bottom of flat section.

2. Engine water level .CHECK overflow bottle not empty.

3. Propeller and Spinner .. CHECK damage, cleanliness, security.

4. Air Filter ..CHECK still red (look up NACA Duct)

5. Nose Wheel .CHECK for proper inflation.

6. Static Ports, ( side of fuselage) CHECK CLEAR

7. Windscreen. ..CLEAN

3. CABIN

1. Control Wheel Lock REMOVE. (If installed)

2. Ignition Key (first position), Lights, EFIS, VHF, trnspdr . ON.

3. Fuel Quantity Indicators. 2 x wing tubes, EFIS screen 2

4. Fuel filter (under passenger seat) . .sparse sediment permitted.

5. Fuel Valves (2 wings, 1 under passenger seat) ..ON.

6. System check EFIS screen 2

6a. BackUp Switch (red cover) turn ON

6b. Pumps switches .Check both, check EFIS fuel pressure.

6c. Lane switches Turn ON. Lights darken. EFIS temps valid.

6d. Lane switches Turn OFF.

6e. BackUp Switch (red cover) ..turn OFF.

7. Test (red button above EFIS) Press, check RH lights.

8. CO monitor test button Press, note check cycle completes.

4 LEFT WING

1. Main: inflation, & pull top back and forth to check leg firm.

2. Strut and Jury Strut. .Check fastenings firm.

3. Pitot tube Cover..... .REMOVE, check opening clear.

4. Strobe, Landing Light CHECK nav light and flashing lights.

5. Aileron.................... ...CHECK freedom and security.

6. Flap.......................... ..CHECK fastenings and security.

7. Surfaces................... ..Check damage and cleanliness.

5 EMPENNAGE

1. Control Surfaces....... CHECK damage, freedom and security.

2. Rudder hinge split pins ... Check all present.

3. Elevator push rod split pin .. Check present.

4. Rudder and elevator trims. Check split pins, control firmness.

6 FUEL SUMP (under RH Side behind main gear beam)

1. Drain valve................ .Check for water and sediment.

7 RIGHT WING

1. Surfaces....................... ..Check damage and cleanliness.

2. Flap................................ .CHECK fastenings and security.

3. Aileron........................... .CHECK freedom and security.

3a. Aileron trim....... CHECK split pins and control firmness.

4. Strobe................... .CHECK nav light and flashing strobe.

5. AOA tube cover................ REMOVE, check openings clear.

7. Main Inflation, pull top back and forth to check leg firm.

SAFETY

1. PLB........... .........fasten inside pilot flotation vest with lanyard.

2. Flotation Vest................ All occupants wear.

4. CO detector: press test button; cycles then display ‘0’

5. Seats, Hatches, Harnesses... ......Fasten and adjust.

STARTING ENGINE

Main key switch ON (position 1 only),
EFIS ON (screen 2), Lights ON (landing and strobe), VHF ON, transponder ON, harnesses & hatches secure.

Brakes Lock-button under left seat OFF (IN)
brake pedals depress and hold ON

Either or both Fuel Pump .................. .....ON (will not register yet)

Throttle Crack open .............. .... 8 mm

Ignition Key turn to position 2 and hold only until STARTS.

Throttle .............................. ... gently adjust to 2000-3000 rpm

Taxiing may start immediately at 2000 rpm to 3000 rpm

SPOT

SPOT is left in automatic tracking mode, motion sensitive, self starts and stops. (www. tinurl.com/PeterTravel)

Switch On Press and hold On/Off until light flashes.

Okay message Press Ok button until light flashes.

Tracking Press and hold Ok button until light goes out.

Friends' Help Press and hold Help button until light flashes.

S&R Press and hold SOS button until light flashes

Switch Off Press and hold On/Off until light ceases.

EFIS

Start Up Starts on screen 2 (number in top right corner)

Check Self check (red LED in fault row, briefly on)

Warm Up Do not depend on the roll attitudes for some minutes
(they may even 'roll over') until the circuit temperture settles.

Set QNH bottom right knob rotate (do NOT push knob)

Screen change press the RH keypad number (1 to 9)

Nearest field Press 0, note range and direction
choose further distances with down arrow
select choice with keypad number
lock into 'direct-to' route with the Enter key.
violet line is fixed course, green line is from current position.
if the green line turns red there is not sufficient fuel to make it.

Waypoints Press Shift, press 1, then all as for Nearest field.

Range, ETE, ETA, Endurance, etc based on L/hr and gps speed
all detailed on top lines on Screen 1.

Checking Engine Condition select Screen 2.

Check location select Screen 8.
Zoom the chart press the buttons above the + or - symbols.

VSI aids Screen 2: small frames at bottom right
"climb over terrain" chart, and "rate of climb/descent" graph.

"Co-pilot" readout pleasant female voice sounds in headset
("voice" volume control is centred under VHF unit).
airspeed regular call in knots under 55 kts (after climbout).
VFR"airspace" calls one minute warning.
"flight level" calls 250' before each 500' level
(when climbing or descending at significant VSI).
"ground proximity" calls once at 500' agl (when descending).

VHF

ON/OFF leave on.

Volume lower left knob (press once to change Rx volume).
Rx volume reverts to intercom volume when you press PTT

Tuning standby lower right knob
press once and set frequency, press again and set decimals.

Switching between Active and Standby arrow button top right
Note: press briefly. Longer press (double beep) starts/stops "dual watch", longer press still activates SAR frequency.

EFIS "VOICE" set volume with bare shaft just beneath radio.

EFIS Channel Control Not recommended
EFIS knob above the QNH knob
Note: turning this immediately sets the Active channel on VHF.
Press, hold in, and turn to set decimal of frequency.

Squelch Control to screen out RF noise (not cabin noise)
Press Menu button (top left); right knob - right one click, press once, rotate. When done, press Menu twice.

AUTO PILOT (AP) - unserviceable

ON/OFF (switched circuit-breaker) leave off.
